Ships that I Ship: Day 21: Anya/Dimitri

Pairing: Dimitri/Anastasia
Canon Level: Together

I adore this movie in all its historically-inaccurate glory and have been sold on Anya/Anastasia and Dimitri from the beginning. They're so sweet together. Anastasia's a very self-assured, determined young woman, but I feel like Dimitri gives her someone on her side so she can really flourish and explore this new world that's opened up to her. Dimitri's a little shady but he's got a good heart, and it seems like Anastasia gives him the desire and the courage to reach for something better for himself. Plus, they can tease and banter with each other, and great relationships are the ones where all partners are confident enough in each other and the relationship to not have to take everything seriously all the time.
