Whooooooooo, we won! It is very satisfying to tie Philadelphia's record for a twenty home game winning streak by beating them. And in regulation no less!

Very exciting game too. It seemed like we were just trading goals with the Flyers, especially in the second period, but then Franzen scored in the first minute of the third and we never let them get another goal. :D Now to see if we can beat the Stars on Tuesday and make a new NHL record.

Today's hockey revelation: The reason I have so much trouble keeping track of who's who in random hockey games is because baseball has conditioned me to expect the team in the primarily white uniform to be the home team. Hockey (at least the NHL, I have no clue about other leagues) is the opposite! Everything makes so much more sense....

I also made my own hockey-inspired marathon of How It's Made and learned how they make wooden sticks, graphite sticks, gloves, pucks, goalie pads, and goalie masks. I learned some interesting things, like the company that makes the wooden sticks has a storehouse of 6,000 sticks used by past and current players to model their sticks on.

I think we're now through enough of the season that the annual "Is this going to be the year Lidstrom finally retires?" talk is starting up. At least, the announcers were speculating on it at one point during the game. It makes meel conflicted because goodness knows if anyone in the league has earned retirement, it's Lidstrom. But at the same time he is ♥so amazing♥ that I want him to stay still.
