Ships that I Ship: Day 60: Dave/Karkat
Canon: Homestuck
Pairing: Dave Strider/Karkat Vantas
Canon Level: Dating
There are a lot of ships I like that can ace the broccoli test, and then there are the ones that couldn't pass it if you gave them poster board, a dozen sharpies, and an hour to prepare. Dave and Karkat are the latter sort, mostly because I think Dave would get a lot of amusement out of trolling Karkat by deliberately not getting it. They're two of the chattiest characters in Homestuck, and yet getting them to have a straight-forward talk about their feelings is virtually impossible. They're the pairing that dragged me into this fandom kicking and screaming and trying to figure out this quadrant thing because they're just that much fun to read about. Karkat's bossy, loud, and a secret sap once you sift through all the extraneous b.s. he spouts. Dave has never met a metaphor he couldn't torture to death, especially if he could use it to avoid talking about anything real, but underneath his bluster he's a normal kid who's afraid to show people his vulnerable spots. And they seem to get each other, which allows them to relax a bit and not be so determined to keep everyone at arm's length.

Never been into Homestuck, though I did try to read it on two separate occasions. Still, I love the idea of a ship failing the broccoli test because half the pair is just being a stinker. XD
