Oh, I like your interpretation of Hope's character! You're right, that does make a lot of sense & ties in nicely to the rest of the movie.
I thought Pym came across as an asshole for a lot of the movie, so probably not just your issues? Especially when Scott & Cassie's relationship is right there to contrast Hank & Hope's. I will say my interpretation of Hank may be colored by what I've read of comics!Hank.
Thank you for agreeing with me on that ending! It was a sucker punch for the sake of a sucker punch but that's a really mean thing to do when there's no more movie and I can't get any sort of catharsis. I'm not a fan of killing characters in general and this was so horrible.
(Infinity War had me coming out of the theater feeling the opposite of what I'm sure Marvel Studios wanted me to feel. I came out of it going, "Whelp, they are clearly going to un-dead all those people somehow with time shenanigans, so I don't care about Endgame because whatever time shenanigans I imagine will probably be more to my liking than Marvel's.")
