Ships that I Ship: Day 5: Miguel/Tulio

Canon: The Road to El Dorado
Pairing: Miguel/Tulio
Canon Level: Best Friends

The Road to El Dorado is one of my favorite movies ever. I love the colors and the humor and Chel and Altivo, and I am even passing fond of the objectively-not-that-great soundtrack. But the thing that makes this movie for me is Miguel and Tulio. Their banter makes me literally laugh out loud still despite having watched this movie I don't know how many times. I will never tire of Miguel and Tulio's antics.

And the thing about Miguel and Tulio is that their relationship just reads as potentially romantic to me, even in the movie itself. (Seriously, Friends Never Say Goodbye is straight-up a break-up song. "Still we are, have always been / Will ever be as one" -- the subtext is practically text; it is not a subtle song.) So while I do enjoy gen about these two, it's still going to get mentally categorized as pre-slash for me.

Miguel and Tulio are adorable. I was too old when this came out to cleave to it like a childhood Disney film (as opposed to Beauty and the Beast, the Little Mermaid, Aladdin and Lion King, which are my childhood favourites) but Miguel and Tulio are crazy amounts of fun to watch.

(In a way that always leaves me wanting to go watch In and Out afterwards.)

I'm going to check out these recs.
