Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King

So. The movie kicked serious ass. I loved it and want to go back. Since I can't think coherently, I'll put my thoughts in bullet points.

-Gandalf? Kind of annoys me. Though I did like it when I noted that the hem of his white cloak was dirty.

-Gollum still scares the bejeezus out of me, more than any other character. And now, thanks to the movies, he skeeves me out as well.

-Sam broke my heart. I adore him so much. I cried when Gollum turned Frodo against him and he was sent away. And the end? I mentally screamed, "No! Sam's supposed to marry Rosie and have lots of fat, happy Hobbit children!" Because, yes. The two of them are cute together.

-There were three times during that movie when I wanted to tell Frodo to just kiss him, for Pete's sake.

-God. Merry and Pippin's parting scene. Just. God. So fucking emotional, I don't know how I could have doubted they were in love.

-When Merry and Pippin were reunited at Minas Tirith? See above.

-Whoever it is that plays Pippin needs to put a cd out for me to buy. Right now. His voice was so beautiful that it's beyond my power to describe. It... did things to me.

-I adore Gimli, truly I do. Which is why I was so sad that he was once again the comic relief. I'll admit, the movie needs some laughs. But can't he get any character development that doesn't bring on laughs? Gimli deserves so much more. And of all the characters, I think he'd like being laughed at the least.

-Legolas, I've never really cared for. I think it's his hair; it's not natural. But his fight scenes are cool.

-Viggo? Looks much better with his hair washed. I still don't think he's that attractive, but I can finally see why other people do. His kiss at the end with Arwen was very touching, as well. I felt his disbelief at seeing his lady love at long last then the love that poured out when he kissed her.

-I don't remember everyone going off in the boats. Bilbo and Frodo and Gandalf, I mean. But that could just be my poor memory.

-I also thought that Frodo deliberately pushed Gollum and the Ring into the volcano. Because that way he is able to break free of the Ring's influence and declare his independence. That all I would have changed, though I think that what happened in the movie is what is actually true to the books.

-The scenes with Faramir and his father broke my heart. I mean, Faramir's such a devoted son. How could his father not see that? My theory is that the Ring had influenced Faramir's father even though it never came near him. (He didn't even watch as Farimir rode to his [almost] certain death just to try and prove himself.)

I think that's everything. Oh, one other thing. Word of advice: don't drink anything during the movie. I did, and I spent the last half hour wishing it would hurry up and end so I could go to the bathroom.
