Animal Crossing Blatherings
So I ordered a Nintendo Switch back in March and it finally came in at the beginning of June, so I've been playing Animal Crossing: New Horizons pretty much non-stop since then. And I want to talk about my island but my friend is Switch-less, so here we are.
I've been playing the game for...just about two weeks now. My house has got two rooms added on to it; I've got the campsite and Isabelle. I...think I'm progressing at a steady pace? It's hard to tell.
I want to rearrange my island and make the other side of my plaza the residential area plus give all villagers (all five of them so far) fences and yards. It will require moving four villagers (Samson, Prince, Lucy, and Flora) since Rocket is the only one with her house in a decent spot. I'm also having to pay twice to relocate my house so I can move it back one row. Boo to you, Tom Nook.
We'll see if I can get people's houses and Nook's Cranny moved without having to double move anything. *sigh* I have a feeling this is going to set my next house remodel back a ways. And I need to figure out paths. Mostly how big I want paths to be.
...Thinking about it, my biggest struggle in the game is that my natural inclination is to pack everything as tightly as I can but that way leads to a crowded, cramped feel (as evidenced by my four current villagers packed like sardines). Also if everything's close together, walking around and seeing things is difficult. (Like when I tried to catch the bug on the coconut tree today, but I scared it away when trying to maneuver around the trees.)
I'm trying to build an orchard, but so far I have no way to get any fruit other than cherries, peaches, and coconuts. And the current orchard is also suffering from dense, cramped, difficult-to-walk-around feel despite me deliberately leaving more space than necessary. Whyyyy is virtual urban planning so hard? Am I going to have to redo my half an orchard? Will I make good on my threat to cut down all but twenty-two of my non fruit trees and put them all in a corner to make daily tree-shaking simpler? It would probably free up a bigger space for flower experimenting....
I might try to make this a daily thing, but we'll see I suppose.
