Pairing: Dio Eraclea/Lucciola

There's so much loyalty and protectiveness from Lucciola towards Dio that I was captivated by their relationship from the start, and that only grew as I got to understand Dio better over the course of the series. But then there's how they end! Dio and Lucciola are so tragic, and all I want for them is a happy ending. I know at one point I had an elaborate explanation for how no, Lucciola could totally have survived if canon had just done this instead. I don't really remember what it was, given that this was over a decade ago, but I'm pretty sure it involved Lucciola losing at least one of his limbs.
