Ships that I Ship: Day 23: Rin/Sousuke

So I think this is the first time that I've repeated a fandom so far, and rest assured it won't be the last. I can simultaneously ship many, many things. Anyways, I am a big fan of Sousuke and Rin, partly because while I want Rin to be happy I am too deep down the Makoto/Haru hole to ship Rin/Haru. However! I really enjoy Rin and Sousuke too. They're best friends, like Makoto and Haru, but they have such a different dynamic between them. Haru and Makoto work because their personalities and how they relate to the world are complementary in such a way that they can each be the other's port in a storm. Rin and Sousuke are actually very much alike in how they relate to the world. Both are fiercely competitive, and I think part of what draws them to each other is recognizing something of themselves in someone else. And thus their relationship dynamic is one where they drive each other to push harder and get better. It's supportive, but they also don't allow complacency between them. And it's great fun. They're also both great, big saps although you have to dig a little deeper to get to Sousuke's sap than Rin's.
